Terms of Use

Kinship is a community where adults look for a co-parenting partner. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the app. By creating an account or using Kinship, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into this agreement. Kinship is for adults who are considering becoming parents together. It is not for dating, for casual arrangements, or for anyone acting on behalf of somebody else.

Give us accurate information about yourself, including your true age and location, and keep it up to date. Use one account, keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think somebody else has access to it. You are responsible for what happens through your account. We may refuse, suspend, or close an account that breaks these terms.

You agree not to:

• Create a fake profile, pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your age, identity, or intentions.
• Harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, or intimidate another member.
• Ask for money, gifts, or financial help from another member, or run any kind of scam.
• Post or send sexual content involving minors, or any content that is illegal, hateful, or that you do not have the right to share.
• Share another member's personal information, photographs, or messages without their permission.
• Advertise or promote businesses, clinics, agencies, or services without our written permission.
• Use the app for anything unlawful, or try to break, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer it.

Verifying your identity is voluntary. If you choose to do so, you upload a document and our review team checks it before a Trusted badge appears on your profile. A Trusted badge means only that a document was reviewed at that time. It is not a background check, a character reference, or an endorsement, and it is not a guarantee that a member is safe or honest.

We do not run criminal background checks on members, and we cannot confirm anybody's intentions, medical information, or fertility status. You are responsible for your own safety and for the decisions you make. Take your time, ask questions, meet in public places, tell somebody you trust about your plans, and never send money or share financial details. If something feels wrong, use the report and block tools in the app.

Kinship is an introduction service. We help members find each other, and that is all we do. We do not guarantee that you will find a co-parent, that a match will succeed, or that any arrangement will work out. We are not your lawyer, doctor, fertility specialist, counsellor, or mediator, and nothing in the app is legal, medical, or professional advice.

Any arrangement you make with another member is between you and them. We are not a party to it, we do not draft or review your agreements, and we do not enforce them. Co-parenting and donor arrangements carry serious legal consequences that differ from state to state, including questions about parentage, custody, and support. Before you enter into any arrangement, speak to an independent lawyer licensed in your state. Nothing in Kinship is a substitute for that advice.

Your profile text, photos, and messages belong to you. By posting them, you give us permission to store, display, and process them so that the app can work — for example, showing your profile to other members and carrying your messages to your match. This permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where we must keep a record for safety or legal reasons. Do not post anything you do not have the right to post.

We do not routinely read your private conversations. We may review messages, profiles, or uploaded documents when a member reports something, when we are investigating a safety issue, or when the law requires it. We may remove content, decline a verification, or suspend or close an account when we believe these terms have been broken or somebody is at risk.

The app lets you block a member and report them to our review team. Reports go to the Kinship team and are handled as promptly as we can. You can unblock a member at any time from your profile settings. Please do not use reporting to harass another member.

Kinship is currently free to use. If we introduce a paid feature in future, we will tell you the price and ask you to agree before you are charged anything.

You can stop using Kinship at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we decide to discontinue the service. If we discontinue Kinship, we will give you reasonable notice so you can save anything you want to keep.

Kinship is provided as it is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost opportunities, lost profits, emotional distress, or harm caused by another member. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim relating to Kinship is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

We may update these terms as the app changes. We will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use Kinship after that means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
